Dr. Laurie Sullivan is the Associate Principal at St. Agnes School. Prior to her work at St. Agnes, Laurie was a 6th grade teacher at Pollard and High Rock Middle Schools in Needham and a home hospital tutor for students who could not attend school. In addition, she designed  professional development programs and started an Educational Consulting firm in 2015 specializing in Sheltered English instruction.   Laurie has instructed over 3000 educators to teach students learning English for speakers of other languages (ESOL).  Later, she became the Assistant Principal and Principal at St. Patrick’s School in Stoneham before joining St. Agnes School as an Associate Principal two years ago.

Description

This 15 PDP asynchronous course is designed for educators seeking to build inclusive school systems that support the academic, social, and emotional success of all learners. Participants will explore leadership practices that foster equitable access, collaborative instruction, and a culture of belonging for students across diverse learning needs and backgrounds. The course emphasizes practical strategies for creating sustainable systems that promote inclusion at both the classroom and schoolwide levels.

Course topics include Universal Design for Learning (UDL), inclusive classroom models, co-teaching structures, scheduling for inclusion, and cultivating a culture of belonging. Through interactive learning activities such as master schedule reviews, classroom inclusion case studies, and reflective leadership exercises, participants will analyze current practices and identify opportunities to strengthen inclusive programming within their schools.

As a culminating project, participants will create an inclusive school design plan that outlines actionable strategies for improving access, collaboration, scheduling, and school culture to better support all learners. This fully asynchronous course allows participants to engage with content at their own pace while earning 15 Professional Development Points (PDPs).
