Short Term Option for Assessment and Recommendations – SOAR (Joint program for ACCEPT and Assabet Valley Collaboratives)

SOAR is a joint partnership of ACCEPT and Assabet Valley collaboratives. SOAR is designed as a short-term stabilization and diagnostic assessment program for students who are struggling in their school setting as a result of emotional and/or behavioral difficulties. The clinical and educational experts at SOAR, assist districts to address diagnostic and placement issues for students experiencing difficulties.  SOAR staff provide counseling, behavior management, academic support (small group and tutoring available), and case management. SOAR staff will work with all constituents to answer referral questions and formulate appropriate recommendations.  The comprehensive process may include assessments, evaluations, observation and data collection, record review, and other necessary components.  SOAR strives to assist students, families, and districts in coordinating the appropriate services and structures so students can return to the least restrictive setting.  When students transition to their next setting SOAR staff will support the process by providing consultation, direct support, and other services to the new setting.
